BTC celebrates International Women’s Day
Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) joined hands with the world to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th. The company hosted two ‘power breakfast’ summits in New Providence and Grand Bahama to commemorate the day. Both summits focused on gender parity, balance and self-awareness.
BTC People Manager Nikia Forbes said, “We are proud to celebrate International Women’s Day. We truly believe in equality here at BTC, it has contributed to our success over the years. We have females in every area in the organization. There are female technicians, engineers, accountants, lawyers and senior leaders.”
Speakers in Grand Bahama included Eleanor Williams, Dr. Tammy Quant-Moss, nutritionist Karen Barr and makeup artist Daydawn Charlton. In New Providence, Chief Executive Officer of the National Training Authority Keshelle Kerr-Davis and Rubis Sales and Marketing Manager Latia Duncombe spoke to team members. Other presenters included Briann Pritchard from the Family Wellness Center and John Bull’s MAC makeup team.
Latia Duncombe in her presentation said, “There are times when you may have to push hard, which should be the exception and not the norm. You don’t want to move at ‘warp speed’ all day, every day. You need the downtime; you need the family time. You need to rest. You need to know what’s important and when to get things done,” Duncombe said.
Speaker in Grand Bahama Eleanor Williams challenged the ladies to “become the balanced woman you know you can be, and create the life that you dream about”.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
