Championship match-up set in under-15 boys youth soccer
The match-up for the championship trophy in the under-15 boys division of the Bahamas Football Association’s (BFA) Youth Soccer League is set.
The two preliminary games were played at the Roscow A.L. Davies Soccer Field this past weekend to determine who would play in the championship game. In the first game on Saturday, the Western Warriors took apart United’s defense early, and rolled to a 7-0 shutout win. In the second game of the day, the Dynamos easily put away a feisty Cavalier Football Club (FC) team, 7-1.
Derrick Ferguson Jr. took over for the Dynamos, leading them to the impressive victory. They will now move on to play the Warriors in the championship match.
In their match-up during the regular season, the Warriors came out on top.
In under-18 girls action on Saturday afternoon, the Renegades blanked the United white girls team, 3-0, and the Lady Dynamos squeezed past the United purple squad, 3-2.
In the first game, the Renegades got a brace from Courtney Rolle and a single goal from Paige Smith. Their defense did the rest.
In the second game, between two rivals, the Lady Dynamos dug deep and came back to win in the second half after trailing 1-0 at half-time. The Lady Dynamos got goals Tyra Mckenzie, Bernadette Nelson and Mia Williams in the victory. The United purple squad got goals from Asia Williams and Shasta Saunders.
There were a number of other games this past weekend. In under-18 boys play on Friday, United FC shut out the Baha Juniors, 6-0 and the Future Stars blanked the Dynamos, 2-0. There were quite a few games on Saturday. In addition to the games mentioned already, in the under-13 boys division, the Western Warriors held off the Insurance Management Bears, 2-1; United got past the Baha Juniors, 3-2; and the Renegades FC Marlins outlasted the Renegades FC Barracudas, 3-2.
There were three senior league games played on Sunday. The University of The Bahamas (UB) Mingoes and the Bears played to a 1-1 tie; the Dynamos doubled up the Baha Juniors, 4-2; and the Renegades shut out United, 4-0.
