Gospel artist charged with rape

A pastor, and a member of gospel music group Christian Massive, was on Monday remanded to prison on a rape charge.

Prosecutors allege Cartnel Kent Johnson, an associate pastor of Life Changer’s Ministries, committed the unchristian act against a woman on March 8.

Johnson was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.

Prosecutors plan to fast-track the case to the Supreme Court with the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment.

Johnson, 48, of Rocky Pine Road, next returns to court on May 28.

He will remain in custody until then, unless the Supreme Court grants him bail.

Bjorn Ferguson appeared for Johnson and ASP Clifford Daxon prosecuted.
