Fatal car crash on Grand Bahama

A man died on Tuesday night after crashing his car on Freeport, Grand Bahama, according to police.

Police said shortly after 9 p.m. while driving on Grand Bahama Highway and Coral Road, the lone driver of a gray Mitsubishi Galant struck a tree and died at the scene.

Minister of National Security Marvin Dames said yesterday that traffic fatalities continue to be a major problem in The Bahamas.

He said there have been 15 traffic fatalities in The Bahamas for 2019.

Parliamentarians passed the Road Traffic Amendment Bill, 2018, in the House of Assembly yesterday.

The bill will, among other things, criminalize the use of cell phones and other electronic devices while driving.
