Fed Cup team set for competition in Peru

A four-member team, ratified by the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA), is prepared to represent the country in Fed Cup competition in Lima, Peru.

The team of player/coach Kerrie Cartwright, Danielle Thompson, Sydney Clarke and Sierra Donaldson, will take part in the 2019 BNP Paribus Fed Cup in the Americas Group II Division, from April 17- 20. The four-day competition is set for the clay courts of the Tennis Club Las Terrazas Miraflores in Lima.

Fed Cup is the premier tennis competition for female team play. The Bahamas will compete against a number of nations including host nation Peru, Bolivia, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Panama and Costa Rica.

The countries will be divided into two pools. The winners of each pool will face off with the winner advancing to the Americas Group I in 2020.

Federation officials expect the team to perform well in the tournament, and best wishes are extended.

The team works out on a regular basis at the BLTA’s National Tennis Center, and will leave for Peru on Saturday April 13.
