40 migrants caught near Inagua
Authorities rounded up 40 migrants off Inagua on Tuesday evening, according to the Department of Immigration.
Acting on information, authorities said they apprehended a 35-foot sloop that ran aground off the south coast of Little Inagua.
The migrants were transported to Matthew Town, according to authorities, where they were turned over to immigration officials.
The group consisted of 32 men, seven women and one minor.
This latest incident brings the total number of migrants apprehended for illegal entry in 2019 to 300 in four separate incidents, according to authorities.
