A middle-aged man accused of the sexual assault of a young boy was yesterday denied bail.

Darron Simmons, 50, of Allamanda Street, appeared before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux facing a single charge of indecent assault.

Prosecutors say that Simmons indecently assaulted a nine-year-old boy between October 2018 and January 2019.

Simmons was not required to enter a plea to the charge and the case against him will be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court with the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment on May 30.

He will have to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

Inspector Claudette McKenzie prosecuted.
