Police shoot gunman and woman on Eleuthera 

Police shot a man armed with a machine gun and a woman on Eleuthera on Sunday, a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.

According to police, officers responded to reports of gunshots near a night club in Lower Bogue, Eleuthera, shortly after 3 a.m. Police said the officers saw a man armed with a machine gun.

The man pointed the gun at the officers who, police said, shot him in the lower body and recovered the gun.

The suspect was taken to a local clinic where he was treated and later transported to a hospital on New Providence for further treatment.

Police said a woman at the club was also shot during the incident and was taken to a local clinic where she was listed in stable condition.
