Robbery suspect remanded

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in relation to an armed robbery last week.

Suspect Romond Gregory King, 27, of West End Street, made his initial court appearance before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on April 18.

Prosecutors say that King robbed Kelsey Lockhart of a black cell phone, worth $80, a USB cord and $230 cash.

King, who was represented by Ian Cargill, was not required to enter a plea to the charge as it cannot be tried before the magistrate.

He will enter a plea when the case is transferred to the Supreme Court. This will happen once King receives a voluntary bill of indictment on June 4 that contains the prosecution’s case against him.

McKinney remanded King into custody.
