Breaking | Double murder in Kemp Road

Hours after two men were shot and killed at Potter’s Cay Dock on Wednesday night, police were called to the scene of another double murder, this time in White’s Addition off Kemp Road.

Police said two men were shot and killed shortly after 7 a.m. today.

Superintendent Shanta Knowles said a third man received gunshot injuries. He was transported to hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

“What we got so far is that around that time, two vehicles were in this area and there was an exchange of gunshots between those two vehicles, resulting in the injuries and the death you see here this morning,” Knowles told reporters on the scene.

Police are still trying to identify the victims and the make and models of the vehicles involved.

Knowles appealed to residents for assistance.

“We need your help,” she said. “We need the help from the people in the community. We need the help of mothers. We are burying our young men and we need to find ways to encourage our young people to resolve their conflicts without resorting to violence.”

This latest incident comes roughly 11 hours after police were called to investigate a double shooting at Potter’s Cay Dock.

When officers arrived on that scene, they found two men unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the upper body. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Knowles said it’s too early to determine if the shootings are connected.
