Men arraigned after $1.6 million bust
A man was arraigned in relation to a $1.6 million marijuana seizure on the same date he was to be tried regarding a drug bust last year.
Clyde Dawkins, 27, of Lowe Sound, Andros, was on bail for the September 2018 case where police allegedly found 38 pounds of marijuana inside a home he occupied in Leslie Estates, when police arrested him on May 3 off South Andros.
Police allege that Dawkins; Howard Rolle, 50, of Mangrove Cay, Andros; and Pizarrio Brennen, 35, of Alice Town, Bimini, were aboard a 27-foot speed boat where police found 1,627 pounds of marijuana.
The men denied charges of drug possession with intent to supply, drug importation and conspiracy to commit the offenses at their arraignment before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain. They were remanded to prison and advised of their right to seek bail in the Supreme Court.
Swain set an August 21 trial date.
