String of weekend armed robberies
Police are investigating a series of armed robberies that took place on New Providence over the weekend.
According to police, the first incident took place shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday at a Bellot Road home. A male resident answered a knock on his house door, where he was met by a man armed with a gun.
The armed man entered the home and took cash before escaping, police said.
Police said the second incident took place shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday at the junction of Prince Charles Drive and Yamacraw Hill Road.
According to reports, the victim was was sitting in his black Nissan Cube, where he was approached by an armed man who took his cell phone, before getting into a vehicle and speeding away.
The third incident took place shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, police said.
A man accepted a ride from two women who drove him along Western Road, and then stopped the vehicle near a bushy area.
Police said a man with a sharp instrument emerged from the bushes and demanded cash from the man catching a ride.
The victim was stabbed in his left arm during a struggle with the armed man, but he escaped and hid in nearby bushes as the armed man and two women drove away.
He was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
