New traffic laws

Dear Editor,

One of the government’s minister’s made his point in justifying the new traffic laws by saying that people driving under the influence of alcohol or marijuana should pay stricter penalties than for other traffic violations. He was referring to driving with an open bottle of alcohol in the car.

I could be wrong but if I’m reading him right it is a clear admission that just like alcohol there is the possibility of a person’s judgement being impaired while under the influence of marijuana. If and when “grass” is made legal, will a law be put in place that prohibits one from smoking it while driving?
