Bahamian hit with smuggling charges in Florida

A Bahamian man was arrested by United States Marshals Service and jailed in Broward County on charges of alien smuggling, according to a Broward County arrest report.

D’Angelo Dino Dean, 29, was arrested on Wednesday for smuggling a number of people to South Florida.

The vessel used is believed to have left from Bimini, captained by Dean and an accomplice who escaped.

Dean posted a video on social media prior to his arrest, seemingly boasting about what he thought was a successful trip.

In the video, Dean can be seen steering a speedboat through a harbor.

“When you know how to run boat,” Dean said at the start of the video, before he turned the camera to show a line of condominiums and passing boats.

“Foreign, we in foreign.”

Dean laughed and talked about money being on his mind before he held up a plastic bag with American cash.

Dean, who was born in Freeport, according to a police report, was wanted a few years ago by the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) for questioning in regard to a stealing investigation.

Contacted about Dean’s Wednesday arrest, Bahamian police offered no information.
