Grand Bahama police foil reported smuggling attempt
Four Haitian migrants and three Brazilian migrants were apprehended shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday, after police and immigration officers hindered a smuggling operation in the area of Flamingo Lane on Grand Bahama.
According to reports, officers acting on information went to the canal area off Flamingo Lane near Swan Drive and boarded a blue and white fishing vessel where they apprehended the migrants.
Upon searching the vessel, police said they also uncovered 20 pounds of marijuana valued at $20,000.
