Police: MDeez was stabbed before traffic accident
Police have determined that popular Bahamian musician Davon “MDeez” Knight was stabbed during an altercation prior to his vehicle crashing, and ultimately died while attempting to drive himself to the hospital.
Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson clarified that preliminary police reports indicating that Knight was killed following an altercation as a result of a traffic collision at the junction of Prince Charles Drive and Fox Hill Road, were incorrect.
He told reporters on Monday, “As far as I am aware, the investigation is just about completed, and we can confirm that it’s a homicide and we expect to charge somebody very shortly.
“…When the police give you a report in the first instance, it’s a preliminary report.
“We are advised that there was some confrontation and it was during that time that he was stabbed and he drove off and the vehicle crashed.”
Ferguson said that the inaccuracy of the report centered around police wanting to provide timely information to the press.
Knight was an established reggae and dancehall artist, a songwriter, producer and entertainer, having worked with international artists such as Jah Cure.
He was a Bahamian Icon Award nominee and recently received the 2019 Elevation Award for male artist of the year.
The musician was set to start a 12-week tour this week.
He would have reportedly been the first Bahamian artist to perform at the annual Reggae Sumfest in July in Montego Bay, Jamaica, alongside Buju Banton, Beres Hammond, Beenie Man, Spice and more.
