Two men were shot and killed at a home in Star Subdivision off Prince Charles Drive, police said yesterday.
Chief Superintendent Solomon Cash, who heads the Central Detective Unit, said the victims had just arrived at the home when two gunmen opened fire on them.
Cash was unable to say if the men were related, but said the two men were driving in the same vehicle.
Both men, who were pronounced dead at the scene, are believed to be in their 40s, according to Cash.
Asked if any of the men were known to police, he said, “It’s our information that one of the persons is known to us. However, we are not going to release that name until a notification of next of kin.”
Cash declined to divulge information about how the man was known to police.
He said he could not confirm whether the murders were gang-related.
The double murder came roughly 13 hours after a man was shot and killed off Solider Road.
When asked if the incidents were related, Cash said, “It’s too early for us to say that.”
Rain fell on the two bodies as police processed the scene.
Despite the drizzle, a small crowd gathered as the bodies were loaded into the hearses.
One woman screamed as she stared down at one of the victims.
The murder count for the year now stands at 45.
