Same man charged in John Bull robberies
One of the men charged with the smash and grab robbery at the John Bull store at Baha Mar is currently on trial for allegedly committing a similar robbery at one of the company’s locations in Freeport.
Diego Carey’s trial before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Freeport resulted in the delay of his robbery trial in Nassau.
In the Freeport matter, prosecutors allege that Carey and Corradon Cockburn, while concerned with others on July 23, 2018, conspired and stole 35 men’s and women’s Rolex watches and two Breitling watches valued at $427,000, the property of John Bull Limited.
According to initial reports, two men dressed in drag entered the John Bull Store at the Port Lucaya Marketplace on the morning of July 23, and smashed a glass display case stealing a number of high-priced watches and escaped in a stolen vehicle.
Due to the ongoing trial in Freeport, Carey and Phynarge Wright will face trial regarding the May 8 robbery at Baha Mar in which jewelry valued $451,625 was stolen in September.
