Man denies blame for passenger’s death in car crash

A man was charged yesterday over a car crash last month that killed his passenger.

Shaquille Bethel-Hamilton, 26, of Graham Drive, Yellow Elder, was accused of killing Yoandra Roberts on June 14 while driving in a manner dangerous to the public.

The car flipped over on the Milo Butler Highway, killing Roberts.

Bethel-Hamilton is also accused of removing the car without the permission of its owner, Sharlene Strachan, and driving without third party risk insurance.

Bethel-Hamilton denied the charges at his arraignment before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux and was granted $9,000 bail.
