Go out and spread the message

“For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.”  – Ecclesiastes 9:1

We give God praise and thanks for another year’s journey through the maze of independence. Psalm 46 assures that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in the time of trouble. Therefore, will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most high. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved. God shall help her, and that right early.

So, today begins another year’s journey and we must set our GPS only for the course that would navigate us against the paths of hate, envy, malice and greed. King Solomon says that his deep thoughts are troubling because those who have power are giving travelers wrong directions much to their hurt and downfall.

There is no doubt that up to 2019, women in our country and elsewhere are socially, intellectually, professionally, politically and spiritually advanced. They have been elevated from the washboard to the conscience of the boardroom. However, although empowered, we have allowed the forces of evil to steal our joy and rob us of our crown.

To say that I am a happy camper as I see The Bahamas in 2019, let the truth become clarion and peal forth a doleful dirge. But in spite of the tolling, a thunderous and joyful overture is about to be heard throughout the land and beyond, because the righteous are joining forces to make this land where the people who sit in darkness will see a marvelous light. That light will illuminate and exalt: Jesus Is Lord.

Christian women of this nation, God has given us a mandate to go and give a message to his disciples. No longer must we be weepers and moaners for our children, but Esther’s and Deborah’s who will come forth to save the nation and its people.

I am praying that as we journey towards 2020, that out national vision will be just that – 20-20! We will have eyes and see clearly, ears that will hear the faintest cry of the oppressed, hands that will reach out and touch somebody’s hand to make this land a better land.

Like King Solomon, I too have deep thoughts that the darkness will turn to dawning and the dawning to noon day bright, and Christ’s great kingdom will come on earth, the kingdom of love and light.
