Entrepreneur expands pool testing business

An enterprising entrepreneur has expanded his pool testing business to New Providence, to ensure Bahamians remain safe as they enjoy their backyard recreation.

Gavin Knowles, owner of Saline Pools and now Pool Solutions, said owners might not be aware of the dangers that lurk in a pool that is not properly treated.

“You might chlorinate and clean your pool regularly, but did you know, as confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that waterborne diseases can result from infected pool water?” he said.

“Diseases like gastroenteritis, dysentery, amoebic dysentery, cholera, typhoid, hepatitis A, giardiasis, cryptosporidiosis, salmonellosis, shigellosis and dermatitis.”

Knowles’ consultancy Pool Solutions addresses the problematic conditions that can occur within pools.

“Pool Solutions provides fast and effective solutions for any swimming pool problem, any type of pool, whether saline or regular tablet run pool,  anywhere on New Providence,” Knowles said.

Knowles’ first business, Saline Pools, typically specialized in the installation and maintenance of saline systems in the western district of New Providence.

“Saline Pools provides a service to saline run pools, but I have had so many calls from owners of tablet run pools as well that I felt I needed to help those pool owners too,” said Knowles.

“I decided the best way I could do this was to provide a pool consultancy service, so I set up my new business Pool Solutions in addition to Saline Pools.”

Knowles has an intimate knowledge of pool water chemistry, which is the most important part of keeping a pool clean, clear and safe to swim in.
