Man denied bail in double murder trial

A man accused of a double murder and two counts of attempted murder was yesterday refused bail.

Deano Nixon, 22, was charged with the February 16, 2015 murders of Henry Johnson and Renardo Johnson, and the attempted murders of Pedro Collie and David Strachan.

Justice Bernard Turner, in rejecting the bail application made by attorney Geoffrey Farquharson, said that Nixon was set to be tried soon.

The fatal shooting occurred on Plantol Street when assailants in a silver vehicle opened fire on a group of men. The Johnsons were pronounced dead at the scene while Collie and Strachan were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
