Sex charges remain against male nurse
Prosecutors will not reduce charges against a Jamaican man accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy.
Nurse Ricardo Dunbar, 36, of Jasmine Gardens, was in court yesterday for a status hearing on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor of the same sex and indecent assault.
At his initial court appearance last week, Dunbar’s attorney, Tamara Taylor-Storr, had suggested the charges were duplicitous.
As a result, Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt adjourned the matter for the prosecution to review the file to determine whether the charges would be amended.
Corporal Samantha Miah told the court that the charges would proceed as on the docket. Prosecutors allege that Dunbar had sexual relations with the teenager during June 2019 and indecently assaulted him in May 2019.
He next returns to court on October 1 for presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
