Man charged with unlawful sex with minor

A 21-year-old charged with unlawful sex with a minor denied the accusation at his arraignment in the Supreme Court yesterday.

Jeffrey Brennen Jr. faced two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and one count of attempted unlawful sexual intercourse at his arraignment when he appeared before Justice Carolita Bethel.

Prosecutors allege that Brennen had relations with a 13-year-old sometime in August 2018 and February 9, 2019. He is also accused of attempting to have sexual relations with the minor in August 2018.

Brennen’s case has been assigned to Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson, who will fix a trial date on August 21.

Cordell Frazier appeared for the Crown.

Brennen, who is unrepresented, remains on remand at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
