A Ridgeland Park resident has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a Cabinet minister’s brother.

Lynden “Peanut” Williams, 22, is accused of the August 4 murder of Cabrio Wells, the younger brother of Minister of Transport and Local Government Renward Wells, who was shot multiple times outside his home in Ridgeland Park.

Williams was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

Prosecutors intend to fast-track the case to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment on October 22.

Williams’ lawyer, Glendon Rolle, told the magistrate that police suspended his client’s interview on August 16 for him to receive treatment at the hospital for injuries to his hand, shoulder and back. Rolle complained that police failed to contact him when the interview resumed.
