BPL Abaco assessments continue
A team will be deployed to Grand Cay, Abaco, on Tuesday to conduct a comprehensive assessment, Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) Director of Public Relations Quincy Parker said yesterday.
“Allen Exploration Walker’s Cay is bringing in a larger team to do a more comprehensive assessment on Little Grand Cay,” Parker said in a statement.
“The team is expected to be on the ground on Tuesday.”
He added, “Bahamas Power and LIght Ltd. is confirming that an early assessment of Little Grand Cay in Abaco – carried out by BPL’s man on the island and representatives from Allen Exploration Walker’s Cay, which powers the islands – has yielded relatively positive news.
“The cay made it through Category 5 Hurricane Dorian in relatively good condition with some damage but not as much as other communities suffered.”
He noted that there is food, water and an operational clinic on the island.
As of Friday evening, according to Parker, electricity had been “fully restored” to Moore’s Island.
“BPL staff on the island confirm this,” he said.
“Meanwhile, the BPL team continues to work to restore power to the mainland Abaco, beginning in the south. We will continue to update the public on the reconstruction of our infrastructure in Abaco.”
