Man and woman beaten to death

A man and woman were bludgeoned to death in an apartment off Gladstone Road yesterday morning, according to police.

Chief Superintendent Solomon Cash, who heads the Central Detective Unit (CDU), said the victims were found in the rear of the efficiency.

He said shortly after 4 a.m. police “was alerted to this location relative to a scream that was coming from one of the apartments.”

“Once the police officers arrived on the scene, they went into one of the units where they discovered the lifeless body of two individuals: one adult female and one adult male,” Cash told reporters at the scene.

“We can only say that from our preliminary investigation that both victims appeared to have some sort of blunt force trauma to their bodies.”

He added, “We don’t know the circumstances surrounding this latest double homicide but, of course, we are appealing to members of the public and people who live inside this apartment complex should they have heard anything during the course of the morning.”

Cash reiterated that the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) is committed to solving the recent spate of murders.

There have been six murders since Saturday.

Cash said police were investigating whether the murders were gang-related.

The murder count for the year is 74.
