Eight months after she was accused of snatching four young boys over a month-long period, De’Edra Gibson was today charged with attempting to carry out a similar offense earlier this month.

Gibson was not required to enter a plea when she was charged with one count of attempted child stealing in the Magistrate’s Court. She allegedly carried out the crime on December 9. However, during her arraignment this afternoon, she denied guilt.

“I feel as though the lodge is plotting on me,” she told Magistrate Samuel McKinney. “I don’t know what I did to deserve this.”

Gibson, who was on bail for her prior charges, begged the magistrate not to send her back to prison. She asked to be remanded to Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre instead.  However, McKinney did not accede to that request.

This latest charge comes six months before her trial is set to begin in connection with four kidnapping cases.

Prosecutors say Gibson carried out the spree of kidnappings from February 16 to March 29, where little boys were picked up and later dropped off by a mystery woman.

Gibson was arrested and charged with abduction of an unmarried person, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of two years, in April.

The charges were upgraded to child stealing in August.

As a condition of bail she was ordered to have regular psychiatric check-ups.
