C.V. Bethel Senior High School was placed on lockdown earlier today after two male students were stabbed, Bahamas Union of Teachers (BUT) Area Vice President for New Providence Vernon Rodgers confirmed a short while ago.
The incident took place around 11 a.m. at the East Street school campus, Rodgers said.
“We don’t know the conditions of the kids right now,” he added. “They were transported to the hospital.”
The injured students are believed to be in the 11th grade.
Rodgers said the alleged attacker is in police custody.
“Right now, the school is on lockdown. There are police officers here checking the perimeter of the school,” Rodgers said.
“Parents were called to collect their kids.
“…The school is now petitioning for a senior master and more security guards on the compound.”
Students claim the stabbing was the result of the fight between rival gangs.
School was dismissed at 2 p.m.
