Vehicle licensing deadline should be extended

Dear Editor,

We note the lack of discretion and common sense exhibited by some members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force under the curfew, which unfortunately is consistent with behavior we have seen on multiple occasions over the years.

Given the shutdown due to the coronavirus, there will be a significant number of commercial and private vehicles that cannot be licensed by the end of the month.

Given that reality and the forgoing observation, we would ask the prime minister to explicitly extend the licensing due in March to the end of April (or later as circumstances dictate) rather than relying on their discretion.

There is no point in stressing the population more than necessary.

Sincerely,

– J. G. Farmer
