The Bahamas continues to be an important launch market for Alcatel, the company’s Regional Director for Central America and the Caribbean Jesus Hung said Friday, as Aliv launched Alcatel’s new 3X mobile device.
Hung explained that The Bahamas is the second location, after Mexico, that the company has launched the device and added that The Bahamas has given the company “good results” since it partnered with Aliv.
“We really are grateful for our partner Aliv, so that we can keep doing great things for The Bahamas,” said Hung.
“Our strategy has been to bring high features to affordable devices. This is what we have been doing the last ten years.”
The Alcatel 3X will retail for just under $200 in Aliv stores and despite the device’s attainable price, the features includes a 6.25 inch, high definition display; three rear cameras (16 megapixel, eight megapixel and five mega pixel); 64 gigabytes of read-only memory (ROM), four gigabytes of random-access memory (RAM); face recognition and fingerprint security; and a 4,000 mAh battery.
He added that the device is running Android’s 9 Pie operating system.
“It performs and is very fast, thanks to the memory,” Hung said.
“The battery lasts more than one day. We believe everyone has a right to all those features, with excellent performance.
“We are pleased to launch it in The Bahamas prior to the holiday season.”
Aliv General Manager for Nassau Patrice Thompson said of the phone: “We’re sure this product will fly off the shelves.”
The first 1,000 Alcatel 3X phones to be sold will come with a free Bluetooth speaker, according to Hung.
He said despite the challenges the Caribbean as a market brings, it continues to be an important market for the company.
“It’s a challenge for everybody, the geographical scattering situation and the difference in the technology,” said Hung.
“It’s hard to have in a single device with the amount of frequencies all of the islands have. You have given us back a lot of good results. For us The Bahamas is very important. The Bahamas has become one of the centers of our launching.”
