The remains of another person believed to have died as a result of Hurricane Dorian have been found on Grand Bahama, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported yesterday.
“[Assistant Commissioner of Police in Grand Bahama Samuel] Butler said that they received a report about a body that had been discovered in bushes,” NEMA said in an emailed brief.
“He suspects that the body could be among the list of missing persons, and said that they are in the process of trying to identify the remains.
“He said that they still have concerns about some grave sites that were disturbed during the Hurricane and so they are ensuring that all graveyards that were flooded during the storm are properly secured.”
Despite the discovery of the body, police maintained yesterday that the number of bodies recovered in the aftermath of the storm on Abaco and Grand Bahama remains at 53.
Over 600 people remain reported missing.
