Along Life's Road

Be kind, loving, brave and true

Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. – Psalm 90: 1-2

Before the next Thursday’s edition of this newspaper, on Tuesday, June 28 to be exact, another year will have been added to my existing number of years – to God be all the praise and the glory!

My dad was always amazed that I could recount my experiences of the days I sat on the crossbar of his bicycle as went off cycling through Grants Town hill along to Maude Wright’s School on Delancey Street. He was amazed, because I was only two years of age and remembered the color of the then-Western Preparatory School and the uniform of the tiny children at play in the yard!

As I look back over my life with its twists and turns, and how the Lord has brought me safely thus far, all praise and thanks to God the father, I give.

Lord, thou hast been my dwelling place in all generations. For the wonderful gift of parents and their training according to scripture that children should be brought up in such a way – the right way, so when then they are no longer children, the teachings will be their constant companion. All praise and thanks to God the father, now be given.

Lord, thou hast been my dwelling place in all generations. For parental direction to education, manners, decency, dignity and decorum. All praise and thanks to God the father, now be given.

Lord, thou hast been my dwelling place in all generations. For music, love of your house and times of worship and adoration. All praise and thanks to God the father now be given.

Lord, thou hast been my dwelling place in all generations, for being a vessel to be used for your service, honor and glory. All praise and thanks to God the father, now be given.

This powerful psalm opens up with faith as the watchword and the celebration of God, the eternal as the creator of all things created! Before everything we see, hear and touch came into being, there was God. God of yesterday, God of today and God of tomorrow.

The dust on the ground was ahead of mankind and this he used to make mankind and is back to where we shall we return. But how precious are his thoughts and love for us that he placed within us a soul that shall never die! All praise and thanks to God the father, now be given.

It is amazing the woeful state of affairs this world is now in, with powerful leaders laying claim to what has been created by God. Is God dead and not aware of the terrible injustice mankind is heaping on mankind? No! Indeed, he is alive, and watching the performance on stage earth from the high heavens above. Know ye not that the performances of tragedy will be replaced with a joyous musical from thankful and faithful sons and daughters.

Dear readers, let us continue to be kind, loving, brave and true to ourselves, others and God. Our needs will be met, our desires fulfilled, our houses become homes, our soured relationships become sweet, our gloom becomes glory and our nation becomes the center of righteous attraction.
