BISX closed 2022 with $6 billion in equity

The Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX) closed out 2022 with equity totaling $6.0 billion and debt totaling $4.049 billion, representing an 18.71 percent increase for the 12-month period.
The All-Share Index closed at 2,645.06 in December 2022, compared to 2,228.24 a year prior.
Commonwealth Bank (CBL) remained the top traded stock in volume, value and equity.
FOCOL Holdings (FCL), Bahamas government stock and Commonwealth Brewery (CBB) followed as the top value trades for the year.
“Trading volume for the 12-month period January 2, 2022 to December 30, 2022 was 8,863,197 securities for a value of $65,302,387.41. Trading volume for the twelve-month period January 2, 2021, to December 31, 2021, was 12,044,767 securities for a value of $108,437,872.45. Trading volume for the three-month period October 1 to December 30, 2022, was 1,259,550 securities for a value of $ 12,761,720.86. Trading volume for the three-month period October 1 to December 31, 2021, was 1,970,790 securities for a value of $ 45,433,003.97,” the exchange said in its Q4 summary.
“For the twelve-month period ending December 30, 2022, the average daily trading volume was 36,231 securities, which resulted in an average daily trading value of $267,112.37. By comparison, for the twelve-month period ending December 31, 2021, the average daily trading volume was 46,091 securities, which resulted in an average daily trading value of $423,019.93 During the three-month period from October 1, 2021, to December 30, 2022, the average volume per trading day was 20,395 securities for a value of $209,816. By comparison, for the three-month period from October 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021, the average volume per trading day was 30,540 securities for a value of $713,471.92.”
BISX announced in the last quarter that it for the first time the value of all securities, equity and debt, listed on the exchange exceeded $10 billion.
