A man accused of the statutory rape of a minor more than a decade ago still hasn’t been tried.
Reginald Sweeting was 52 when prosecutors alleged that he molested a 10-year-old girl in Exuma on January 21, 2010.
Multiple trial dates were set in the unlawful sexual intercourse case but none of them ever came to fruition.
Sweeting, who is now 61 years old, is on bail. He has relocated from Exuma to New Providence.
At a case management hearing, Senior Justice Bernard Turner questioned the viability of the matter given the length of time that had passed.
The prosecutor, Cephia Pinder-Moss, asked for another chance to consult with the director of public prosecutions on the way forward.
The matter was adjourned to October 7.
