Dexta Daps, Spice & Alkaline headline concert series

True to the essence of its brand, Hennessy continues to master the art of blending via its signature concert series, Hennessy Artistry, offering a spectacular mix of music, culture and the arts, and this year they’ve tapped for its star-studded lineup international performing artists Dexta Daps, Spice and Alkaline.

Also performing on the Commonwealth Brewery (CBL) card for the company’s largest signature events, scheduled for Saturday, November 2 at the National Stadium, will be Julien Believe and Wendi, as well DJs Ovadose, Ignite, Unruly AJ and KC242 from Abaco.

“The Bahamas is a very important market for Hennessy. It is the brand of choice for every social gathering and almost every Bahamian knows Hennessy by name,” said Mia Marshall, CBL’s Hennessy brand representative. “This event is a global platform for the brand worldwide and no matter which international market Hennessy Artistry is executed in, it is an exciting event.”

In light of the recent devastation of Hurricane Dorian on Abaco and Grand Bahama, CBL has also committed to donating part proceeds from the event to The Bahamas Red Cross, in addition to an upfront donation of $10,000.

“We were deeply touched and saddened by the devastation of Hurricane Dorian and after taking a moment to assess what was happening we agreed to move forward with the event,” said Marshall. “We feel that even in the wake of devastation we should find opportunities to relax, unwind and take a break from the day-to-day monotony of such a tragic event. After all, The Hennessy ‘never stop, never settle’ motto stands firm and definitely proves true for all Bahamians.”

Jamaican Dexta Daps, born Louis Grandison, who was brought up in a poverty-afflicted community, found himself faced with a decision to either subside to the distresses, or take the experiences of what was surrounding him and manifest them into songs of joy and happiness. Inspired to relieve the monotony of daily routine, his lyrics invite a celebratory side of life, love and the relation of such, delivered in a melodic and sexy measure.

His hit song “Morning Love” made a place for Dexta Daps’ music in the dancehall scene by his style not being confined to the expected.

The artist’s fusion of reggae, pop, R&B and soul enhances his messages, evoking the feel-good sensation in partygoers.

His second hit song “7 Eleven” gained the artist significant buzz with fans and the media; it was followed by the release of hit song “Jealous Ova” featuring Tifa which gained rave reviews, turning attention to him on an international level and cementing the artist’s career. Other fan favorites include singles “Cheat On You”, “Slavery”, “Shabba Madda Pot” and “Miss You So Much” featuring Blakkman.

Alkaline rose to prominence in 2013 with singles such as “Things Mi Love”, “123” and “Gyal Bruk Out”. His black eyeball image could not go unnoticed to many people around the world. He dubs his music as a representation of life from his perspective.

Alkaline’s other singles include “Nonchalant”, “Champion Boy”, and “Yardie Fiesta”.

The Jamaican, born Earlan Bartley, debuted his first album in 2016 entitled “New Unlocked”, which scored number one on the iTunes reggae billboard. That same year he released the hit single “Fleek” which had over 50 million views on YouTube. He was recognized as Entertainer of the Year, best song and best male dancer at the 36th International Reggae and World Music Award in 2018.

Spice, who also hails from Jamaica, is known for her hit single “Romping Shop” by the infamous Vybz Kartel which debuted in 2008 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

She is also a member of reality television show “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” cast.

Spice made her debut to the world at Sting, a dancehall festival, and since then has collaborated with major names in the industry – Jimmy Cliff’s single “I Want I Do I Get”, Beenie Man’s single “Hot” and most recently Kid Ink’s latest single “Nasty”.

All around the world, Hennessy Artistry brings together some of the most talented artists on stage for an electric mix of musical talents. More than a show of different artists, the Hennessy artistry series are exciting collaborations of musical artists in exceptional onstage performance.
