Downed pole leads to prolonged power outages in eastern NP

Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) confirmed yesterday that the eastern area of New Providence experienced extended power outages due to an accident on Bernard Road.

The power outage affected residents living on Bernard Road, Village Road and areas located in Blair for numerous hours.

BPL also said in a statement earlier this week that it has been experiencing a higher volume of calls lately, leading to delays in servicing all customers.

“The service last night was complicated when a vehicle collided with one of our poles on Bernard Road,” according to BPL Public Relations Officer Quincy Parker.

“The resulting response was delayed by the issues referenced in the statement, but we have addressed the issue as far as supply and are completing repairs today.”
