The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has taken over the human trafficking case of a Dominican national.
Eucal Bonaby appeared on behalf of the Crown at a status hearing for Sobeyda Garcia Reyes, also known as Soybeda Scrivens, yesterday.
Prosecutors allege that Reyes, of West Bay Street, trafficked a 23-year-old Venezuelan national, conspired to traffic her and unlawfully withheld her passport.
The offenses allegedly took place between December 1, 2018, and January 31, 2019.
Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt set a trial date of December 10 and 11.
Last week Reyes elected summary trial and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
She faces a minimum of three years in prison if convicted.
Ryszard Humes represents Reyes.
