Failed leadership in the COVID-19 fight

Dear Editor,

A month ago, we were finally reopening the country and getting rid of COVID-19.

Now, it is all ruined, thanks to the Minnis administration.

Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis, Minister of Tourism Dionisio D’Aguilar and Attorney General Carl Bethel have completely failed.

Today, the US is falling apart and thousands of people are either infected or dead. Minnis reopened travel to the US when COVID was out of control in that country.

We thought the people had hope when the prime minister stopped all commercial flights from the US, but we were wrong.

It will get worse from here on in.

Our hospitals will be overrun with patients, then our healthcare will collapse and without healthy workers, the economy will rot away. We will finally become a failed state.

Your administration has destroyed all hopes of creating a stable country in the midst of COVID-19; your administration has failed in repelling the new cases.

Your administration has created every little excuse to justify getting US dollars, knowing that your hospitals will be flooded with patients and no one will be able to help others in need.

The only way to solve this rising crisis is nothing less than the prime minister, the tourism minister and the attorney general to apologize and absolutely resign from the political arena.

If your administration doesn’t do the right thing soon, the people would be fed up. I’m only warning you that the patience and goodwill of Bahamians will finally run out.

Sincerely,

Ammaka Russell
