Four charged in connection to Coconut Grove murders

Police on Monday filed charges against four men in connection to three murders that took place in the Coconut Grove community.

Roobens Elusme, 20, of Market Street, was charged with the January 1, 2020 murder of former policeman Marco Meadows who was gunned near his home on Third Street.

Ombre Moss, 18, of Bacardi Road, is accused of the December 30, 2019 shooting death of Jermaine Williams at Second Street.

Moss is accused of conspiring with Bernard Taylor, 24, of Fox Dale, and others, to kill Williams.

Cleophus Smith, 27, of Nassau Village, is charged with the murder of Keion Butler at Amos Ferguson Street, on August 13, 2019.

Smith is also accused of the attempted murders of Chavez McPhee and Marvin Tilme.

All of the accused alleged that they were victims of police brutality when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

They were not required to enter pleas to the charges and were remanded to prison until February 25.
