Haitian man fined for immigration violation
A Haitian man arrested on New Providence on January 28 was yesterday fined for entering the country illegally.
Johnny Tannis, 34, was arrested by police and turned over to immigration officers for a status check.
Immigration officers found that Tannis had not been given permission to enter the country.
Tannis pleaded guilty to illegal landing when he appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.
He will spend a year in prison if he doesn’t pay a $300 fine.
