Haitian woman, who used fake documents to get Bahamian passport, fined

A Haitian woman was able to get a Bahamian passport, although her application for citizenship was denied.
Widlene Francoeur, 30, of South Ocean Drive, on Tuesday, admitted to using fraudulent documents to support her applications for citizenship and a Bahamian passport.
Following a complaint, police arrested and charged Francoeur in 2019. However, the case was delayed after trials were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yesterday, Francoeur, who was on bail, appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney and pleaded guilty.
He imposed fines totaling $7,000 or one year in prison.
Inspector Timothy Bain prosecuted.
