A previously deported Jamaican woman who entered the country under another name has been sentenced to a month in prison.
Shanice Silent, 24, of Kingston, Jamaica, will spend another six months in prison if she doesn’t pay a $3,000 fine.
Silent admitted to trying to mislead an immigration officer at her arraignment before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.
The court heard that Silent was arrested at a club in the Ridgeland Park area on January 11.
Unable to provide proof of her immigration status, she was taken to the detention center for processing.
It was revealed that Silent had been denied entry in November 2018 because she had been deported for overstaying two years earlier.
