Jamaican woman denies human trafficking charges

A Jamaican woman accused of forcing three of her fellow countrywomen into prostitution was on Friday denied bail.
Avagay Jemison, 29, of Charles Drive, faced three counts of human trafficking at her arraignment before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.
Jemison has pleaded not guilty and returns to court on March 31 for trial.
Prosecutors say that Jemison, who is married to a Bahamian, committed the crimes between January 14 and 24, 2020.
Jemison, who is also known as Tiny and Spice, did not have a lawyer when she appeared in court.
Sergeant Lincoln McKenzie prosecuted.
