The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.”
And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying: “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.” – Revelation 11:15-17
It was getting near to the reason Jesus came to earth and that was to die for man’s salvation. He enters Jerusalem and comes to Bethphage unto the Mount of Olives. He sends two of his disciples to secure a donkey on which he was to ride upon on Palm Sunday and hailed as he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hereafter, Jesus begins a series of prophetic teachings during which time the disciples wanted to know when what he was saying and the sign of his coming and the end of the world would be.
Jesus answered them and said unto them, “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers place.”
Then the Apostle Paul in mentoring the young Timothy goes to scripture given by inspiration and tells him: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. Having nothing to do with such people. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women who are loaded down with sins and swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:7).
As you read, are you not able to hear, see, know of the prophecies spoken thousands of years ago? – The Holocaust, bombings of trains, planes and buildings, wars, mass killings in schools, churches, markets, streets, dictatorial leadership, boasters, greedy, disobedience to parents, the law and tradition and now COVID-19.
Dear readers we are alive during these perilous times, but have ignored the signs of the times and the message to be mindful of the length of our days. We have been caught up with selfishness, pride, arrogance and rebellion.
Jesus in one of his parables told of the story of a householder who left his servants to take of the premises and occupy until his return. He did not give them ownership by way of a conveyance but left them to act upon their discretion. Upon his return he found the property in disarray and desolation and quieting minus the law took place; but he was the rightful owner and took possession.
Our text from the book of Revelation is the blowing of the seventh trumpet by the seventh angel. And the seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever!”
Never mind the power of leaders of the kingdoms of this world of what they suggest, purport, and delve in vain imaginations – the ruler and creator of this world is voiding the occupying of his property and will call to global attention that old things are passed away and behold all things have become new. The song of the angels at the birth of Jesus, peace on earth and goodwill toward all men; the divine declaration that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof the world and they that dwell therein; the warning to take heed and beware of covetousness, for a man’s life consists not in the things that he possesses, and the summum bonum that we brought nothing into this world and it is certain that we carry nothing out, is at hand.
In this new year that is ripened with blessings, law and order whereby crooked paths will be straightened, wrongs will be righted, rough places become smooth highways, righteousness will exalt a nation, righteous leaders will be put in place, that we give heed to the Word of God. Look, learn, listen and live.
