Man charged in deadly triple shooting
A man was charged yesterday for a shooting that left one person dead and two others injured.
Phillip Farquharson, 29, of Malcolm Allotment, off Malcolm Road, appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on Friday accused of the December 21 murder of Elcartha Murphy.
Farquharson was charged with attempted murder in relation to the shooting of Maldanado Lightbourne and possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life in relation to the shooting of Archelus Lewis Jr.
Farquharson, who is represented by Krystal Rolle, did not enter pleas to the charges.
He will enter a plea when he is arraigned in the Supreme Court.
Farquharson will learn his arraignment date on March 4, when it is expected that he will be committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court with the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Farquharson has been remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services as the magistrate lacks jurisdiction to grant bail for the offenses. He can, however, seek bail in the Supreme Court.
Officials said the triple shooting occurred following an argument outside a nightclub.
