A wheelchair bound man was today charged with the murder of his girlfriend.
Prosecutors allege that Kenrick Hanna sustained the injuries that left him disabled during a suicide attempt after he killed Monet Darville at an apartment in South Bahamia, Freeport, Grand Bahama on September 24.
Viral cellphone footage after the murder showed Hanna, 29, jumping from the third-floor balcony after police attempts to talk him down failed.
He was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge and returns to court on March 4.
Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis remanded Hanna to prison.
Hanna’s lawyer Miranda Adderley had asked the court to send Hanna to Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre because she said the prison “was not a fit place to be held on remand.”
