A man was charged with the January 23 murder of Jahkeil Armbrister.
Ricardo Stubbs, 25, of Cowpen Road, was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge when he made his initial appearance before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt and was denied bail.
Police said Armbrister was shot to death when two men burst into his home at Higher Drive in Flamingo Gardens around 9 p.m. The gunmen fled the scene in a silver car.
Stubbs, who did not have a lawyer, told the magistrate that he told investigators that witnesses could confirm he was elsewhere when the crime occurred but they charged him anyway.
Ferguson-Pratt made a note of Armbrister’s complaint.
Armbrister next returns to court on April 29 for the case to be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment.
