Man charged with procuring teen boy for sex

A 36-year-old physician accused of procuring a child for sex and child pornography was denied bail yesterday.

Prosecutors say Zephrick Newbold, 36, of Malcolm Road West, procured a 15-year-old boy for the purpose of having sex in January. He was allegedly found with a picture of the same child’s penis on the same date.

Newbold was not required to enter pleas to charges of procuration and possession of child pornography when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

He was advised of his right to seek bail in the Supreme Court and returns to court on March 10 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment that will fast-track his case to the Supreme Court.

Deangelo Francis, 31, appeared in the same court accused of eight counts of the rape of a minor.

Prosecutors allege that Francis, of Major Road, Yellow Elder, had sex with a girl, aged 11, from September 30, 2019 until January 4, 2020.

Francis was not required to enter a plea and has been denied bail.

He returns to court on March 18.
