Man charged with stealing, money laundering

A 27-year-old man was charged yesterday with stealing over $44,000.

Samuel Kemp, of Davis Street, Fox Hill, pleaded not guilty to six counts of stealing and six counts of money laundering.

It is alleged that Kemp, who was represented by Devard Francis, stole and laundered a total of $40,000 from a Commonwealth Bank account between July 2 and July 4.

He was also charged with stealing and laundering $4,500 from a Scotiabank account between June 19 and 21.

Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux said she was unable to grant bail.

Kemp was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services. He returns to court on October 1.
